Yardbird, Southern Dining at its Finest!

Yardbird Southern Table & Bar, South Beach's new haven for southern comfort cooking, is a new hot spot on the Beach.  For us gluten free folk, most of the menu is off limits, but, for those few items we are able to have, the ambiance may just be worth the trip.

Yardbird is on 16th and Lenox, just a block off of the well known Lincoln Road.

Outside, the Yardbird sign illuminates and you can typically see a packed house inside.

I'm a big fan of the decor and comfort of the tables inside.  There's a closeness to the tables.  We actually made friends with the couple seated next to us.  The food got us talkin'!  We asked each other what we were eating, it was both of our first trips to Yardbird.

Checkout the full menu here, there's brunch, lunch, supper and a bar menu to checkout.  I went for supper.   I was thrilled to have a server knowledgeable about gluten free items and happy to provide me the clarification I needed to have to assure my meal was gluten free.

I chose the Roasted White Oak Pastures Free-Range Chicken, roasted breast, fresh rosemary, Dade County lemon, Green Railroad Organic Workshop tatsoi, marble potatoes, $19.  Instead of the marble potatoes, I substitutes for roasted potatoes.  The lemon was a very nice citrus touch.

The chicken was delicious.  The mushrooms I could have lived without.  But, the star of the show was the chicken, moist, large, tasty, zesty with the lemon.

My favorite part about the night was the atmosphere of the restaurant and making new friends.  That's what Yardbird was all about for us.  A Southern comfort environment, with new friends, delicious food and a cozy place to make it happen.

UPDATE

I'm in LOVE with Yardbird.  It's true.

I had to show you more delicious gluten free items so you know how incredibly gluten free friendly Yardbird is.

First up - cauliflower mash potatoes.  First of all, I could have sworn I hated cauliflower. Apparently, when you mash it down with butter and goodness, its amazing - who would have known??

Don't lets looks deceive you. Lil’ Bit of “Meat Loaf” $11, is amazing.  It's a Slow braised short rib, roasted garlic cauliflower mash, red-eye gravy, chunky housemade tomato jam - and best of all, it's gluten free!

And for the winner.... GLUTEN FREE FRIED CHICKEN!!!  No, your eyes aren't deceiving you -- this is REAL!!  And... it's by far the best fried chicken ever.
