This blog is dedicated to us Celiacs, or those who live or want to live a Gluten Free (GF) life. I've come across products and restaurants that are wonderful, and want to share them (and hope you do the same)! I've also come across products I wish I never purchased, and restaurants that were unaccommodating to say the least. This is a forum to share useful information so we can support those accommodating companies, and hope those that aren't step up to the challenge!

Bite - Miami Beach's BEST Gluten-Free Bakery!!
Keeping this post up for us as a real reminder... When we have AWESOME stores dedicated to making our lives with food allergies better, we NEED to support them!!!!
=...(
As an alternative, check out Bunnie Cakes - my post for them is here.
BITE, a new allergy friendly bakery, tucked away on 41st Street in Miami Beach, opens with the premise that every person with an allergy should still be able to have a bite!
I was debating what state I'd have to order a cake from for my upcoming birthday, not anymore! You name the food allergy, BITE can cater to it! Gluten-free products line the shelves, but, more importantly, BITE takes orders for cupcakes, cakes, etc. Your creativity is the limit to what BITE will make! This is exciting for me, I L-O-V-E chocolate, and terribly miss GREAT cake, cupcakes. With Misha looming everywhere, I feel taunted all the time -- now... I can strike back with BITE!!
Take a peak at what I ordered --
- Chocolate = Devil's Food Cupcakes (with marshmallow in the middle as well!!)
- Chocolate Chips on top = Peanut Butter Cupcakes (with peanut butter and marshmallow in the middle!)
- White Icing on top = Strawberry Shortcake Cupcake (with strawberry in the middle!)

BITE Allergy Friendly Bakery on Miami Beach Continues to Impress!

SAD SAD NEWS. BITE IS NOW CLOSED, and MARIE IS NOT WORKING FROM HOME... Keeping this post up for us as a real reminder... When we have AWESOME stores dedicated to making our lives with food allergies better, we NEED to support them!!!!
As an alternative, check out Bunnie Cakes - my post for them is here.
....
I rarely, if ever, write about the same place twice... But, this is deserved. I continue to be overly impressed with BITE (click to see my first post), where every person with an allergy deserves a bite of some delicious dessert! For those of you challah lovers, BITE now makes delicious gluten free oat challah every Friday, as well as all sorts of amazing pastries (last week were the BEST cinnamon rolls I've ever had (didn't even think they were gluten free!!! and neither did the NON GF folk I was nice enough to share them with)). I was lucky to try the lemon bars, and chocolate bars, both fabulous. Also worthy to note, BITE has a great selection of KATZ's gluten free products, (click on Katz's to see my favorite picks).

Have you Heard of Bunnie Cakes??

They knew I LOVE chocolate, and sent me the chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting (sealed with an adorable heart on top) and chocolate chip cupcakes with a vanilla chocolate chip frosting.
Let me begin by saying I'm a chocolate addict, and a really tough critic when chocolate is off. Bunnie Cakes hits the mark in such a perfect way. I never thought gluten free could taste this good!
For those of you on Miami Beach, or Aventura - it's time to be excited, Bunnie Cakes products are in Juice and Java on stores - find the details here on how to order/pick up.
Check out the full menu here - It's also great to know Bunnie Cake makes cakes to order, and has over 20 flavors they can make GF!!
HUGE THUMBS UP FOR BUNNIE CAKES!!

Sweet Freedom Bakery

I checked out the menu, was most excited about the cupcakes - but... frosting can't be shipped ground... Booo... =(
Cookies could only be ordered by the dozen ($13.75 a dozen). I ordered a dozen chocolate chip cookies, and a dozen chocolate chocolate chip cookies.

I also ordered a half dozen blueberry muffins ($18 - I was disappointed I had to order by the half dozen, as I really wanted to try other muffins as well - but, just don't have the freezer space, nor did I want to spend another $18!). Lastly, I ordered a half dozen brownies ($15). See them below.

My favorite was the chocolate chip cookies. They tasted like the real thing! But... here's the real deal - the brownies.. well, I think I can make them better with Betty Crocker's mix - mine don't crumble and taste better. The muffins, well, for $3, I was really hoping for a real size, large muffin, these are tiny (about the same size as the Kinnikinnick blueberry frozen muffins). The taste of these muffins is much better then Kinnikinnick's, with large blueberries in them, but... not good enough for me to order again. Lastly, the chocolate chocolate chip cookies - we'll, I thought I'd be enamored with these, and I wasn't. They were OK..
I say this with a grain of salt, because Sweet Freedom Bakery is gluten free, vegan, dairy free, egg free, soy free, corn free, peanut free, refined sugar free, AND kosher. With all of these ingredients out of the mix - it has to be difficult to create an amazing tasty product. Since I only need gluten free products, I'd prefer the egg and dairy in there for taste. Am I glad I tried the baked goods? Yes! Will I order again? No.
Thumbs Sideways for Sweet Freedom, for what you have to work with, you do an AMAZING job. For Celiacs that have options for other ingredients (like dairy/egg) I'd look elsewhere.
